Now that 2021 has come to an end, Print Finishing Partners has a big announcement to share:
After almost 54 years the founder of PFP, Volker Petzold has retired!
I’m sure most of the people who are reading this, know Volker very well and know how passionate he is about the printing industry. His outstanding work ethic, drive to do the job right and build lasting relationships is astonishing.
I would like to take a moment to thank my father for giving me his guidance and teaching me, as well as putting me in the position to take over this amazing company he has built. Not only is he a wonderful father, but he is also a great mentor and boss.
I always wanted to follow my father’s footsteps, though I never realized how big these shoes were to fill! Wherever I go, his reputation precedes him, and for that I can say he has made my life a lot better being a Petzold.
In 1964 he started his career with an apprenticeship in Germany, which created the footprint of his very successful career. Then he became a field service technician working for Kolbus Germany, where he was relocated to be stationed in the US during the late 70’s for a few years. When he returned to Germany, he worked himself up to head of the project department at Kolbus.
In 1997 he became a permanent resident in the US and continued his successful career at Kolbus America as the VP of Technical Sales & Services. 2002 Volker took his career to the next level and started his own business in the printing industry, by creating Print Finishing Partners, where I joint him in 2010.
After almost 54 years he is finally ready to say goodbye to the industry and enjoy his life! Even though many of us know that he would be going longer if my mother and I wouldn’t be telling him that there are other things in life than work. I have the most admiration and appreciation for my father, his knowledge, and his mark on the industry, I can’t say enough on how thankful I am for what he and my mom has taught me. I promise I will continue to carry Volker’s impressive work ethic and devotion in the PFP’s values and performance.
I wish you a great retirement and hope I can bug you here and there when I need guidance while you are exploring the world on cruise ships!
Enjoy it, you deserve it!
Your son Mike
