 WST Systemtechnik GmbH, a German based company was founded in 1975 and is operating worldwide, manufacturing signature recognition systems. WST was the first German company that developed a zonal sensor:

This zonal sensor has been installed to avoid waste in the field of catalogue and magazine production on more than 40,000 feeders worldwide and still today it is successfully integrated in all processing machines that are commercially available. In case of sufficient distinctive features, the OSC system is still an excellent product for the quality control. Lacking image differences with marginal products, e.g. agendas, phone books, etc have finally led to the development of the bar code system OBC. With this system, WST offers its customers a hundred per cent safety that can additionally be recorded and that optionally contains a network connection enabling a data exchange between prepress and further processing.
